Our story, mission, and vision
Our Story
Sabita Speaks was founded by Stephanie Vavilala after witnessing firsthand the barriers faced by her daughter Sabita, who is non-verbal and learns through adaptive communication tools. What began as a mission to give children a voice has evolved into a broader commitment to supporting neurodiverse individuals in accessing the tools, resources, and opportunities necessary to thrive.
Our Mission
Sabita Speaks strengthens our local community by expanding equitable access to education, life skills development, advocacy resources, and community inclusion for neurodiverse individuals.
Our Vision
We envision a community where neurodiverse individuals are respected, supported, and empowered to participate fully and confidently in everyday life.
What we do
Sabita Speaks focuses on four key pillars:
1. Access & Resources
Supporting access to adaptive tools, communication systems, and educational materials that promote independence.
2. Education & Skill Development
Developing initiatives that build life skills, promote independence, and prepare individuals for meaningful community participation.
3. Community Inclusion
Partnering with local organizations to create supportive, inclusive opportunities for engagement and growth.
4. Family Support & Advocacy
Providing guidance and advocacy resources to families navigating the challenges of raising neurodiverse children and young adults.
Program development
Growing Our Impact
Sabita Speaks is actively expanding its programming to further support neurodiverse individuals in our community. Upcoming initiatives will focus on life skills education, workforce readiness development, and structured community-based learning opportunities designed to promote independence and long-term success.
Through grant funding and strategic partnerships, we are building sustainable programs that strengthen inclusion and expand access to opportunity.
